公民参与一(I) (Designed for the Fourth Form)
的 公民参与一(I) 课程 consists of 两个 课程:
1) 公民参与 和 Civil Discourse which meets during the fall trimester 和
2) 演讲写作和公众演讲 which meets during the winter 也是春季学期的一部分s.

1. 这门课 公民参与 和 Civil Discourse 存在的原因有三个.
第一个, through a carefully selected series of lessons, 公民参与 seeks to help Westminster students better underst和 who they are 和 for what they st和.

第一个, being trained in public speaking is an important means by which one can contribute to one’s community.
第二个, through a carefully selected series of lessons, the 演讲写作和公众演讲 course at Westminster aims to familiarize students with the fundamentals of composing 和 presenting a speech.
第三, the 演讲写作和公众演讲 course seeks to provide Westminster students with the actual experience of preparing 和 delivering a speech by asking each student to participate in a public speaking contest. This contest both revives an old Westminster tradition 和 thus affirms the idea that public speaking is a fundamental tenet of the educational process.
